We've been running the SocialAIFlow InstaDM bot on a Hostinger KVM 1 plan since February 2025. Three months, real traffic, real DMs. Here's an honest assessment — what's great, what's average, and the one thing that surprised us.

The plan we tested

We ran on the KVM 1 plan: 1 vCPU, 4GB RAM, 50GB NVMe SSD, 4TB bandwidth. Mumbai datacenter. We paid ₹299/month on a 12-month plan. We ran the bot on 2 Instagram accounts handling roughly 150–200 DMs per day, spiking to 400+ during product launches.

Uptime — 99.7% over 3 months

We tracked uptime using UptimeRobot. Over 90 days, the server was down for a total of around 6 hours — two incidents, both during scheduled maintenance windows Hostinger announced via email in advance. For a bot, 6 hours of downtime over 3 months is completely acceptable.

Performance for the bot workload

The bot is not CPU-intensive — it's mostly waiting for Instagram API responses. CPU usage sat at 8–15% most of the time. The 4GB RAM was more relevant: during high-traffic periods, memory usage hit 2.8GB with 2 accounts running. If you're running 3+ accounts, upgrade to KVM 2 (₹549/month, 8GB RAM).

Latency from Mumbai datacenter

This was the actual surprise. We expected decent latency but the response times were genuinely fast — 18–35ms for most Instagram API calls. Our previous EU-based server averaged 180–220ms for the same calls. Faster latency means the bot replies faster, and the Mumbai datacenter makes a real, measurable difference for Indian accounts.

Support — better than expected for the price

We contacted Hostinger support twice. Both times, live chat response was under 5 minutes. The DNS issue we raised was resolved in about 20 minutes. For a ₹299/month service, that's better than some services we've paid 10× more for.

What could be better

  • Control panel takes getting used to. hPanel is Hostinger's custom interface — functional but less intuitive than cPanel for people used to traditional hosting.
  • No hourly billing. You pay upfront for 1, 3, or 12 months. Fine for production, annoying for pure testing.
  • Backups are an add-on. Automated backups cost extra. We set up our own backup script to Backblaze B2 — it took 30 minutes but works well.

The verdict

For running an Instagram DM bot, Hostinger KVM is a solid choice at this price point. The Mumbai datacenter genuinely makes a difference for Indian Instagram accounts. Uptime was good, performance more than adequate, and support exceeded expectations.

If you're on the fence about which VPS to pick, start here. Once something is working reliably at ₹299/month, there's rarely a reason to move.
